We Did It!

You guys. It finally happened.

This blog has reached:

See?

And it only took 6 years, 6 months, and 8 days.

Now, you might think that is a very long time to reach 1 million hits.

You would be wrong because it is, in fact, an extremely, stupendously, enormously long time to reach 1 million hits. It's like...whatever the opposite of dog years would be.

Regardless, I have a lot of people to thank for visiting this site a million times!

And the bots.

They sure help my numbers, but of course the most important people to thank are you all, who come and actually read my new posts.

I know this blog is not everyone's cup of tea (despite my early illusions that everyone would love it!)

Oh well.

It doesn't fit into a specific niche and my schedule has become rather uh, sporadic. That makes it also fall off a lot of people's radars so when I see those of you dedicated to keep coming back, I feel very fortunate.

I know I could increase my readership again by visiting and commenting on lots of other blogs, but that wears me out and it feels too self-serving to pop up in the comments in the hopes that the writer might return the favour; especially when I don't post regularly. I do still read blogs, but don't always comment and no longer go to every blog on the list.

I know we're all in it together but TriGirl is a full on introvert.

Plus, I prefer organic and real interactions over the quick accumulation of views (even though that is fun.) I may not post often, but I'm just not ready to retire quite yet because I love drawing my little adventures. And every time you visit, comment, or share my site, it fills me with gratitude.

So for that, you, my readers, get a big thumbs up.

  1. I love your blog, and you, Julie! It was because of those sweet comments and interactions between our blogs that we became friends. Without it, I never would have stayed at an internet friend's (read: stranger's) house during a race-action trip so many years ago 😂 I'm so glad you continue to draw your adventures and share them with us!

    1. Thank you so much, Adrian! I really felt like I knew a lot about you when I invited you to stay with me. I am so glad we met through blogging and that neither of us was a sociopath in real life!

  2. Wahoo!!!! Congrats! And I agree with the quality of reader interaction. You can pretty much always tell the sincerity of the readership when they leave comments like, "great post!" and then end with their own blog link. Like, thanks. You didn't read two sentences of it.

Ha! I know, and guess what? I'm not clicking on that link. I value real interaction.

  3. Congratulations!
I love your style, I look forward to reading your images, etc., but tend to not actually come to the site--I read it all in my email. . . I wonder if that negatively impacts your stats? Something to think about (can you have just some of your blog come up in emails, to make people click the link and actually go to your page?)

Anyway, I'm really happy for you--and look forward to many MANY more adventures from you in the future!

    Have a celebration!

    1. Hi Sandra! Thanks so much! I actually have no idea and did not know that you could read my blog in an email...the fact that I don't know these things may speak to the success or lack thereof of my blog :P . But it's all good!

  4. Congrats! With that comes a suitcase of cash, a special decoder ring, and membership into an exclusive club, right? Like there's some invitation you get now to some crazy Eyes Wide Shut parties, right? There has to be some perks. Your milestone is well deserved.

    1. Thanks! There probably is but the mail service in this town is the pits so they'll probably never deliver all that cool stuff.
